There is not much difference in taste between ordinary Japanese beer and Happoushu, but the ingredients (the ratio of hops, and other ingredient) are different. Therefore, Happoushu is not legally classified as a beer and the taxation is lower than that of a regular beer. The price of a canned beer (350ml) in Japan is around 220 Yen. The price of a can of Happoushu is around 130 Yen. The quality of Hapoushu has been improving so remarkably that you can hardly say which is beer and which is Happoushu. Happoushu is usually not served at restaurants or bars. However, you can buy various Happoushu at any liquor shops or convenience stores/super markets that are handle liquors. How to recognize a bottle of Happoushu. If you find the word "発泡酒" in the printed label on the can, then the beer is Happoushu. If you want to try some good Japanese beer, we recommend "YEBISU beer". It is the No.1 beer brand and tasts nice! #

Oden on the street, there are some Oden venders around the major station (Shibuya, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Asakusa, Odaiba... etc). I saw some Oden / Yakitori / Ramen/ Takoyaki venders on the street around Tokyo station. But I think you may have a chance to try Oden on the street at Shibuya or Shinjuku station on 1/10 and at Odaiba on 1/13. Pls note that they are not always open their vender. It probably depends on weather, day and time. #
